curtain design for Muziekbibliotheek Ghent
BA 3 KASK (2025 - 2026)
The Muziekbibliotheek Ghent invited third-year bachelor Textile Design students to develop an industrially woven curtain for their new listening sessions. The curtain needed to create an intimate zone within the library and enhance the listening experience both aesthetically and acoustically.
My research began within the library’s rich and complex musical archive. What struck me most was the paradoxical nature of music: although it is often considered the most abstract art form, it can be captured in a precise written language through musical notation. Music exists in a constant dialogue between abstraction and notation, between the intangible and the structured. This duality became the conceptual foundation of my design.
