In ‘La piega promemoria’, Martha embarks on a journey to give meaning to her nonna’s memories. This search begins with old photographs—images that deeply trigger and intrigue her.

The fold—here symbolized by a pleated skirt—becomes a metaphor for the intricate nature of memory itself. Memories are not fixed truths but layered constructions, pleats woven into the fabric of our minds, shaped by our own interpretations. They are never an absolute reality, especially when the very concept of truth is itself open to debate.

For this project, Martha explored a series of knitwear designs, focusing on the fold and the pleated skirt—a timeless staple that defined fashion in the 1960s.
