a connective curtain
BA 1 KASK (2023 - 2024)
The first year of the Textile Design program began with a project focused on fiber, thread, and connections. The aim was to start a research using various unconventional techniques for creating connections between threads and fiber. While exploring an old textile book, I came across a handweaving technique traditionally used to produce thin, band-like fabrics. I decided to adapt this technique to create a deformation that I could manipulate, allowing me to weave larger pieces. This process was preceded by extensive research into material choices and ways to manipulate the technique.
The result is a series of curtain-like installations, inspired by the works of Anni Albers for the MoMA in 1949. The concept of a curtain is particularly interesting, as it is traditionally meant to separate or shield spaces.
